Stepping Stones

I have been longing to make stepping stones for a while now. Months ago I spotted some molds and colors on clearance at Jo-anns and snatched them up, however when I went to the local Jo-anns for the mix they didn't have it. Oh, and it was coupon commotion so I had a ton of coupons but nothing I really needed......or wanted ;)

Lucky for me, there is another Jo-anns by where my sister lives which is only around a half an hour drive. They were around $7 a box and I used coupons. I wanted to decorated them really nice and make them colorful, however the mosaic glass pieces that they carried were around $10, even with a coupon I thought that was too much. So I went to the Good-Will and purchased a couple plates and a coffee mug that I then smashed up to use.

I should also point that they these are for primarily decoration. Outside we have rocks on both sides of our house and they are currently there. The directions say to let sit for 24 hours and not step on them for at least two weeks. Also it is good to make these outside or with a window open due to the fumes from the mix.

This would be a great craft to do with kids!! Other then the smashing glass part ;)

DIY Shadow Box

I found this beautiful thing not too long ago at a yard sale!
Isn't it sweeeet?
I have no idea what it is but i thought that it would make the cutest shadow box ever :)

I had seen this cool art piece on Two Girls Being Crafty and decided to incorporate that into my shadow box, however the word 'family' wouldn't wasn't big enough for all our names, and yes i included the dogs :) how could i not?
I had bought two old scrabble games, one at a yard sale and one at the thrift store, i needed two cause i added alot more letters :)

Ta-Da!!

Isn't it cute? So excited to hang it up today!

Trash-Treasure Find

Please tell me that some of you reading this have found a treasure in the trash before? Anyone? Was out with my friend the other day, we were driving home and i passed a gorgeous shelf out for the trash. I said to my friend 'omg did you see that shelf? that was soooo cute' she had totally missed and we turned around, and after about twenty minutes managed to get it into my car. We know we want to refinish it but haven't started yet, but here is a sneak-peek.

Decorating

So I have been bothered by this blank wall in our bedroom for some time now. I don't like blank walls, I think walls should be filled. Maybe a little toooo filled, but whatever. A couple of weeks ago I spotted this frame out for the trash, i drove past it a couple times and decided to pull over and pick it up.
Isn't it pretty? If you could see it for real you would see that it is hanging by a few last nails. But I love it! So it hung on the wall for a little with nothing in it but I had an idea what to do with it.

Enter these wall decals I found at Michaels awhile ago:

 Aren't they soooo cute?
I wanted to use them more then once though so I taped the picture to the bank of the frame and then sticky tacted the frame to the wall.

I had to move them around quite a few times to get them just right, also ignore the some of them aren't smooth (welcome to a renters life ;)

Whadda ya think?

I'm loving it.

For right now anyways.

DYI Decor :)

Earlier this year I bought this Love plaque at the thrift store, whenever I got it was painted nice but wasn't my style. However I did not get the before picture, just the picture after I painted it white:

Also at this time I was working on scrapbooking my wedding pictures and had a bunch of leftover pieces of paper:

So with the white love plaque and the scraps of paper, I took some Mod Podge (which i had never used before, if you do use it, i recommend that you wear old clothes cause it doesn't come off that!) and used it to glue on the scraps of paper :)

The finished product!!

Crafty Time

Not too long ago I saw a cool project on a blog (can't remember which one but as soon as I find it, I'll post it) The project was very easy and I thought it would look cute in my place.

To start out with I printed out this:

The black numbers are random numbers, the blue ones are our wedding date :) For some reason my computer didn't place the numbers right in the center, we just got a new computer and only have a sample of Office Word so maybe that is why. I printed this on a cut down piece of 12x12 scrapbooking cardstock.

Simple Right??

So all i needed now was a nice frame for this beauty :)

A friend and I went yard saling the other day and I found this frame for .50 cents, chaaa-ching!

It was a little beat up, but I was liking the distressed look :) Plus it looks like it cost a lot before

I hadn't looked at the back of the frame when I bought it but whenever I went to put my paper in it, I realised the back was a little different then normal frame backs:

But once i took off the thick paper on the back it was looking a little better ^

I took the glass out and cleaned it and decided to distress it a little more with some sand paper:

The end result!! Please excuse the door in the glare and my hand :)
